The building above this one is a dry cleaner.
It has been a dry cleaner for a long time.
The sign is correct. The hours are not.
It is always open. It is never busy.
Nobody has ever been seen collecting anything.
The clothes on the rail have not moved in years.
There is a second door behind the counter.
It was not locked. It should have been.
Underneath it, the floor keeps going.
Someone went down to check. That was in 2019.
They did not come back up. They also did not complain.
Since then the room has filled with people.
None of them work at the dry cleaner.
In the middle of it, there is a banana.
It is the only object here that is insured.
The dry cleaner, upstairs, is still open.
You are welcome to walk around.
Untitled (Banana), mixed media, undated On loan from nobody in particular.
We make films, and carry other people's films to
festivals, programmes, screens, and once a wall.
We watch everything. We reply to less than everything.
Events, evenings, and the occasional morning of yoga.
Art you have to be in the room for, then it is gone.
You had to be there. That was the point.
Scripts, copy, the names of things, and the long
paragraphs nobody admits they read first.
We named ourselves after a fruit. Trust us.
Websites, products, and interfaces built to be used,
not just admired in a case study.
You are, in fact, looking at one now.
Three-dimensional work — modelled, rendered, and
occasionally made real enough to hold.
The banana was a test. It got out of hand.
Identity — the logo, yes, but also the voice, the
colour, and the reason any of it is that way.
Ask for a logo and we may ask what it is being blamed for.
Digital marketing — the campaigns, the numbers, and
the strange art of being noticed without begging.
We can make you louder. We will ask if you should be.
This part is not mysterious. We have made the rest
of the building sufficiently difficult.
There is a chair by the door. The chair is not available.
